Spring is here and it is time to control that nuisance aquatic vegetation before it overtakes your pond. Aquatic Vegetation can cover an entire pond in a very short time and make fishing from the bank very difficult. Spring is the best time to start treating Aquatic Vegetation. Several methods exist for controlling your aquatic vegetation with Biological Control being the best option. However Grass Carp and Tilapia are not able to control some types of aquatic vegetation. Sometimes Aquatic herbicides are the only option to treat ponds with vegetation problems. Here's 10 reasons why a fountain is right for your pond
10. Fountains add oxygen to your pond. By exposing more water to the atmosphere, the level of oxygen in your pond will be increased. This helps fish, aquatic insects and bacteria to thrive.
9. The additional oxygen provided by your ponds fountain, allows bacteria to multiply faster. Increased bacteria help reduce sludge and other organic waste reducing the offensive odor that insufficiently oxygenated ponds produce.

Fishing Tip of the Week
The reverse Carolina Rig is very useful when fishing brush piles in moderate depths of water. Attach a pencil float to your line at the depth you wish to fish then attach a jig, worm, or bait to the end of your line. Fish the Bait like you would fish a normal Carolina Rig by moving the float about 1 ft and then letting the bait sink and pause. This drives the fish crazy and will induce them to bite. Occasionally the fish will bite at your Float. If your Bait isn't set too low, pop the cork a few times and the fish should see your bait.
